RACHEL WEISZ
BIOGRAFIA
Nacida en Londres, Inglaterra, Reino Unido, el 7 de marzo de 1971. Su origen multiétnico se debe a su padre judío húngaro y su madre judía austríaca. Su belleza y talento interpretativo han hecho de Weisz una actriz muy cotizada en los medios.
Estudió literatura inglesa en Trinity Hall, Cambridge. En ese tiempo, apareció en varias producciones teatrales, siendo cofundadora de la compañía estudiantil Cambridge Talking Tongues, la cual ganó el Guardian Student Drama Award en el Festival de Edimburgo gracias a una improvisación llamada Slight Possession.
Después de trabajar inicialmente en la televisión, Weisz comenzó su carrera fílmica en 1996 en el filme de Bernardo Bertolucci, Belleza robada. En 2001 regresaría al teatro, en el papel de Evelyn en The shape of Things.
Se hizo conocida por los filmes La Momia, su secuela El regreso de la momia y Enemigo a las puertas, en los que realizó notables interpretaciones. Su papel en Constantine fue uno de los últimos de tipo «comercial» antes de su paso a un tipo de cine con mayor trasfondo.
En 2006 Rachel Weisz ganó el Óscar a la mejor actriz de reparto por su papel de Tessa Quayle en la película El jardinero fiel de Fernando Meirelles.
Weisz rechazó volver a protagonizar La Momia 3, en la que fue sustituida por Maria Bello.
